Intercultural Psychoanalytic Approach
Intercultural psychotherapy considers how emotional life is shaped by culture, language, migration, race, religion and social experience. These influences are often deeply personal and may affect relationships, identity, self-esteem and mental wellbeing in ways that are not always immediately visible.
My practice recognises that therapy does not take place outside culture. I aim to offer a space where different aspects of identity can be explored thoughtfully and without simplification.
Faith-informed Therapy
As a Muslim revert, I understand that many people seek a therapeutic space where faith and psychological life can be explored together rather than treated separately.
I work with Muslims from a range of backgrounds who may wish to think about identity, spirituality, family expectations, relationships, belonging or emotional difficulties within a culturally and religiously informed setting.
Therapy is not faith counselling, but faith and spirituality can form an important part of the therapeutic conversation where relevant to your experience.
My Approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on understanding unconscious patterns, emotional conflicts and relational experiences that shape how we live and relate to others.
Rather than concentrating only on symptoms, therapy also explores the underlying emotional meanings beneath anxiety, repetition, conflict or distress. This process can support deeper self-awareness and lasting psychological change.
I aim to provide a steady, reflective and collaborative therapeutic relationship where difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored safely over time.
I am ICO-registered, fully GDPR-compliant, and work in line with UKCP’s professional and ethical standards to ensure your confidentiality and care.
